Fractal parade of colour and movement
A few years ago I was celebrating New Year’s Eve at my friends house in Philadelphia. They told me that I must to see their famous New Year’s Day Mummers Parade. That was one of the oldest folk festival in US.
I was very sleepy because we stayed up late. They convinced me that I should never miss out this event, so we went to the City Hall. There was already a lot of people who wait the beginning of the parade. My friends had already bought tickets for seats near City Hall few days earlier, so we had I very good view.
When parade was begun, comics brigade came first. Clowns in variegated suits were dancing and playing various instruments. They all had sandy brown wigs and cyan pants. After them there were four more divisions who had arrived . “Wench brigade“ was consisted with men and women dressed in old fashion dresses and dotted aquamarine sunshades. There were also “Fancies” in elaborated Indian costume with tassels and feathers, “String bands“ with violins, accordions, banjos and other instruments and in the end “Fancy brigades”.
This event was a real symphony of movement, dance, colour and music. A full synesthetic experience. Some of my fractal images remind me of this colourful event (Garlands, Mescaline, Carnival, Colourcopia)
